At Stepping Stones Preschool, we offer a two-day-per-week enrollment option for our 2.5-year-old class, serving as an introduction to the preschool environment. Additionally, three-day and five-day enrollment options are available for the 2.5-year-old class. Our 3-year-old and 4-year-old classes offer both three-day and five-day enrollment options. All enrollments are available beginning as early as 7:30 AM for half-days, concluding at noon, or for full-days, concluding at 3:00 PM.
We offer after school care as well for preschool, primary and elementary age children until 6:00 PM.
Our calendar includes monthly field trips, Show & Tell Fridays, a weekly letter focus, birthday celebrations, Scholastic book orders, Theater Thursdays, classroom parties, and programs performed by our students, and other engaging activities throughout the year.
Our daily schedule incorporates play-based learning to foster personal and social development, alongside hands-on activities designed to promote fine and gross motor skills, physical development, literacy and phonological awareness, mathematics and numeracy, history, and science. We utilize the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum for letter recognition and writing, supplemented by a carefully selected mix from other educational programs.
We conduct all necessary Pre-K assessments utilizing the Virginia Kindergarten Readiness Program (VKRP). This serves as an excellent metric for both educators and parents regarding each child's progress, as it is the same assessment instrument employed by the public school systems. We administer this testing in the fall and spring for both our three and four-year-old classes.
